Kate and Jennifer left Eugene as soon as Kate finished work on Friday, July 14th. They drove just three hours to Ashland, where they stayed with Mark, who used to work with Kate in Eugene.

They walked downtown with Mark and his friend, Casey, for drinks and ice cream. In the morning, they went out for brunch, then picked up Mark's son, Hunter, before hitting the road.
