Habitat for Humanity Women Build Project

The Project

The 2010 Springfield/Eugene Women Build Project was conceived by several women on the board of the local Habitat affiliate. They started with a fundraising letter to friends that brought in $8,000. Then Wells Fargo bank offered up a generous $35,000. By spring, the group had raised the required seed money and had recruited over 150 volunteers. The Habitat affiliate designated lot #6 of Meyer Estates (a small Habitat division in Springfield) to the group, and the project broke ground on June 5, 2010.

The Women Build house will be the 45th house built by the Springfield/Eugene affiliate. It is a three-bedroom, two-story home that will be occupied by a single mother and her three children. If all goes well, the family will be moved in by Thanksgiving.
